Vulnerable Child And Adolescent Subgroup
The Vulnerable Child and Adolescent Subgroup is a two borough Subgroup chaired by DCI Amanda Mawhinney and Alison Twynam, Director of Children's Social Care, AfC. The group meets quarterly and looks at all issues related to vulnerable children and adolescents related to exploitation, including trafficking, gangs and groups, Harmful Sexual Behaviour, substance use, sexual exploitation, knife crime, radicalisation, missing children and the performance of the MARVE (Multi-Agency Risk and Vulnerable to Exploitation) Panel, which meets monthly.
- Provide clarity on how safeguarding is addressed within the specific priority areas of child exploitation (CE), and address agencies' responses to managing young people missing from home, care or school
- Have a clear understanding of the local situation regarding children and young people missing from home, care, or school and incorporate national learning and local learning into the subgroups terms of reference and meeting agenda
- Have a clear understanding of the prevalence of CE throughout Richmond and Kingston and incorporate national and local learning into the group’s terms of reference and meeting agenda
- The group will be mindful of the increased risk of CE for children privately fostered or trafficked.
