Independent scrutiny 

The role of Independent Scrutineer is to act as a critical friend to promote reflection and drive continuous improvement. The Independent Scrutineer:

  • Considers how effective local safeguarding arrangements are
  • Provides constructive feedback and recommendations on these arrangements to the safeguarding executive group for their consideration
  • Scrutinises the partnership's annual report
  • Is invited to contribute to our deep dive learning cycles

Our Independent Scrutineer is Amanda Boodhoo.

Amanda’s background as a health professional brings experience at an operational level of a number of roles including, nursing, midwifery, health visiting and as a senior lecturer. She has undertaken strategic roles within safeguarding children, adults, and child death partnerships for many years, which has enabled her to develop knowledge and skills that support her scrutiny role.

Throughout her career Amanda has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to championing the voices of children, young people, families, and the practitioners who work with them.

Amanda has undertaken research focusing upon the importance of partnership working in order to safeguard children.
