Was Not Brought

The shift from 'Did Not Attend' (DNA) to 'Was Not Brought' (WNB) reflects that children rely on caregivers to access healthcare. This change helps practitioners consider the reasons behind missed appointments, safeguarding concerns, and medical neglect, where failure to provide necessary medical care can lead to serious harm. Medical neglect includes not recognising illness or injury, delaying treatment, or ignoring medical advice.

In line with Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, recent safeguarding reviews have informed this updated guidance to strengthen child protection.
